On Sorry Day and the eve of National Reconciliation Week, ANTaR Qld President, Kitty Carra, questioned the use of the word reconciliation in relation to Queensland.

ANTaR Qld and the Project 10% co-chair Ken Georgetown met with the Attorney General, Cameron Dick, to discuss the goals of Project 10% - reducing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Imprisonment Rates in Qld by 10% a year for 10 years. The discussion included practical measures required to address these issues and accountabiulities under the National Framework on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Justice. Members of the Project 10% lobbying group met with the Qld Opposition Leader John-Paul Langbroek and the Shadow Attorney General Lawrence Springborg in April, to discuss the failure of the government to keep to the 2001 Justice Agreement promises. There was a committment by both parties to keep the government accountable and to find a way forward to reduce the devastating  imprisonment rates in Qld. Members of the ANTaR Qld Project 10% Working Group and campaign co-chair Ken Georgetown met with Shadow Minister Vaughn Johnson in February to discuss the over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isalnder people in Queensland prisons, and the committment of the Qld Opposition to finding solutions to this devastating problem. ANTaR Qld  met with Police in January to talk about reducing the over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the the criminal justice system. Discussions included the implementation of the CMC Report on Policing in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities, Crime Prevention Startegies, Palm Island and diversion options. ANTaR Qld accepted the role of Campaign Secretariate for the 2010 PROJECT 10% - KEEPING FAMILIES TOGETHER AND MOVING FORWARD - Reducing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander imprisonment rates in Qld by ten percent for ten years. Lead agencies in the campaign are Murriwatch and ATSIWLAS and together the three organisations have been rolling out the goals to Government, Community and Service Providers.
