SUMMARY:Common Grace is running a prayer vigil
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us in prayer on Wednesday 15 April 2026\, the anniversary of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody.\nThis year marks 35 years since the Commission delivered its final report. Heartbreakingly\, in the decades since this 1991 report was released\, 626 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have died in custody. \nWe grieve the lack of implementation of the 339 recommendations by the Australian Government and as this injustice continues\, so does the deep and ongoing grief experienced by First Nations families and communities. \nAs followers of Jesus\, we are called not to turn away\, but to draw near – in lament\, in prayer\, and in action. \nWe long to see a justice system that truly reflects justice.\nA society where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are supported\, valued and empowered.\nWhere structural racism is a thing of the past.\nWhere communities are safe\, free and flourishing.\nWhere children as young as 10 are met with love and care instead of incarceration. \nOn Wednesday 15 April 2026\, we will come humbly before God together.\nWe’ll listen deeply to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian leaders\, lament\, read the Bible\, pray and act together. \nWe would love you to join us.\nDate: Wednesday 15 April 2026 \nTime: 7:30pm – 8:45pm AEST \nLocation: Online via Zoom \nSign up to receive the Zoom link and details for our time together as we gather in prayer\, solidarity and hope. \nSign Up Here \nSee Resources on Common Grace web site
