DESCRIPTION:Dr Noritta Morseu-Diop grew up in poverty on Thursday Island\, in the Torres Strait. She went on to become the first Torres Strait Islander to earn a PhD from the University of Queensland. As she says herself: “Education pulled me out of poverty. It gave me the wings to fly.” \nBut what she did with those wings is why I wanted you to meet her. \nDuring her working life\, she visited an Aboriginal mother in prison whose six children were also locked up — seven members of one family locked inside at once. She has never forgotten it.
