SUMMARY:Yarning Circle - Aunty Sandra King hosted by Uncle Bill Lemson
DESCRIPTION:Aunty Sandra King OAM is a Magandjin Elder whose first home was Barrambin\, the place known today as Victoria Park. \nHer story runs from when she was a child on Barrambin\, to now when she stands strong for Country as an Elder\, and I wanted you to hear her tell her story in her own voice. \nAunty Sandra is a Magandjin born Elder of Yagara\, Quandamooka\, Bundjalung and South Sea Islander ancestry. Her first home was Barrambin\, the place known today as Victoria Park. As a child in the 1950s she lived in the Victoria Park settlement\, where she sat with Elders and learned her people’s ways. \nThe settlement was demolished in 1960\, but the place never left her\, and she has been a leading voice in protesting the development of the 2032 Olympic stadium at Barrambin\, Victoria Park. She frequently speaks to the community on the land’s deep spiritual significance\, ancient First Nations history\, and her own childhood connections to the site before it was destroyed. \nST JOHN’S CATHEDRAL \nDARNELL ROOM · 11.15 AM \nSUNDAY\, JULY 12\, 2026 \nUncle Bill Lemson: connect@unclebill.online \nDownload FLYER
