Yarning Circle with Dr Noritta Morseu-Diop hosted by Uncle Bill Lemson

Dr Noritta Morseu-Diop grew up in poverty on Thursday Island, in the Torres Strait. She went on to become the first Torres Strait Islander to earn a PhD from the University of Queensland. As she says herself: “Education pulled me out of poverty. It gave me the wings to fly.”
But what she did with those wings is why I wanted you to meet her.
During her working life, she visited an Aboriginal mother in prison whose six children were also locked up — seven members of one family locked inside at once. She has never forgotten it. She turned her whole life toward the people our justice system forgets: the ones inside, and the families left behind…..
