Truth-Telling at Mitchelton Library with Katherine Collins
Truth-Telling Session with Katherine Collins at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 7th, 2025Katherine Collins was born in Meanjin (Brisbane), the youngest of seven children. On her mother’s side, she comes from Yawaalaraay / Kooma – Dirranbandi,Queensland.
Her father’s Side is Githabul New South Wales (near Kyogle).
Katherine’s work on her ancestry has helped her to address the grief from the passing of her parents.
This journey helped her to join Inala Wangarra’s Music Project “Singing Our Songlines” — a project of First Nations People, resulting in a CD and gigs at Events in Southeast Queensland.
In a book In Our Hands, Katherine published eight poems, some about her ancestry Journey, with poetry readings at Queensland State Library.
