The First Nations cultural legacy of Victoria Park / Barrambin is profound, marking it as one of Brisbane’s most significant historical Indigenous sites. The area was a vital hub for First Nations social, spiritual, and economic life long before European settlement. In 2008, the Brisbane City Council formally adopted the dual name Victoria Park / Barrambin to acknowledge its enduring Indigenous heritage. As of January 2026, the Queensland State Government is actively proceeding with plans to build a new 63,000-seat Olympic stadium in Victoria Park / Barrambin.
