In 2008, the Brisbane City Council formally adopted the dual name Victoria Park / Barrambin to acknowledge its enduring Indigenous heritage. As of January 2026, the Queensland State Government is actively proceeding with plans to build a new 63,000-seat Olympic stadium in Victoria Park / Barrambin.
