‘Truth-Telling’ session with Dr Noritta Morseu-Diop

Save the Date of Sunday 7 June 2026 to attend an important ‘Truth-Telling’ session with our leading First Nations Guest, Dr Noritta Morseu-Diop, from 2.30 PM – 4.30 PM at CARINDALE LIBRARY.

Dr Noritta Morseu-Diop is a First Nations woman originally from Tamwoy Town, Thursday Island, in Far North Queensland. She became the first Torres Strait Islander to graduate with a PhD from the University of Queensland. As a highly experienced academic, social worker and counselling practitioner, Dr Noritta has been working in and alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and within non Indigenous communities throughout the state of Queensland for well over thirty years.

Her areas of work include grief and loss counselling, support and rehabilitation for incarcerated persons, cross-cultural education, and advocacy for Indigenous health, human rights, and social justice.Morseau-Diop has specialised in understanding the experiences of incarcerated Indigenous people and published her research in a book: Healing in Justice: Giving a Voice to the Silent and Forgotten People. In 2018 she received the Indigenous Community Impact Award. She has also received the Winston Churchill Fellowship.
